By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Round 3 of the Support your local bike shop Munster CX league brought us to Mallow Co. Cork, I was very pleased with myself to be there nice and early at 9:30 to set up the Verge custom clothing stand till I met ex national champion Fiona Meade who told me she has being there since 6:15 am setting up the course and she had being one of the late arrivals!!! The course looked in splendid condition and everyone who was doing warm up laps was commenting on how much fun it was, the finishing straight was buzzing with activity…

Last Sundays racing was hosted by Revolution CC in Mallow, Revolution are a relatively new club that have grown a lot over the last few years and have their base in PI Cycles in Mallow town. Their members have embraced cyclo cross recently and after seeing the cross scene in Dublin they deided that they wanted some of the same so decided to host their own race. Racing started with underage events around a shortened version of the main course which was held in Mallow town park, some great racing was on display with the kids and the parents loving…

Fixx Supercross Round 2

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Round 2 of the Fixx Supercross league took part in Glencullen golf course. The golf course has gone out of business so running a cross race on it was a logical decision for it and the way that we are repeatedly being told that cycling is the new golf it might be a sign of things to come. I can see why the golf course went out of business, it’s in a beautiful location on the Dublin Wicklow border but its literally on the side of a mountain not best suited to chasing small white balls around the place! At…

Fixx Supercross Cup Rd 1 2015

By | Racing, Uncategorized | No Comments

Cyclo cross season kicked off in earnest last Sunday with the first round off the Fixx Supercross league in Grange Castle in Dublin. This season Verge along with Expert Cycles and Fixx coffee house are sponsoring the series, as we are sponsoring the event I “had” to go racing (that’s what I told the wife anyhow) I haven’t raced since the national cross champs way back in January had a second child in the meantime and in general did not have a lot of time to train so I knew I would be in for a hard time. I did…

Dont break the Cycling Ireland rules

By | Racing, Uncategorized | No Comments

Cycling Ireland recently issued the below reminder to all riders that they are to wear clear rain capes or they are to be in the design of the registered jersey and importantly not obstruct the numbers. Failure to do so is placement in last place in their finishing bunch This would be a disaster for any rider who has spent the winter training hard to see a result taken away by not having numbers correctly displayed or having a rain cape that is not in the colours of their club. Unfortunatley its a reality for a large number of club…

V Graph Kilkenny Duathlon

By | Racing, Uncategorized | No Comments

Last year it was a horrible Sunday morning that greeted me for my one and only duathlon of 2014 so surely this years event would be blessed with good weather, how right and wrong that would prove to be. Wrong in that for a few hours before hand it was blowing a gale and lashing rain and for good measure the rain gave way to sleet at times. Sitting in the car an hour before the start I gave serious contemplation to driving home I was also feeling the dreaded man flu starting to set in but I was not…

Historic Day for Swift Carbon

By | Racing, Uncategorized | No Comments

Sunday the 25th of January 2015 will be a day that will live long in the memory at Swift Carbon HQ as it was the day Swift Carbon landed their first win at the world tour level with Wouter Wippert of Drapac winning the final stage of the Tour Down Under. Adam Blytes win in 2014 at the Ride London Classic was previously Swift Carbons biggest trip to the top step of the podium to date but to win at the world tour was a monumental achievement for such a new bike brand. Founder Mark Blewett spoke of his joy…

Bike Review The Ultravox RS-1

By | Racing, Uncategorized | No Comments

Barry Meehan of the www.thecyclingblog.com recently reviewed one of our Ultravox Rs’s here is what he had to say Swift – A bike that lives up to its name When John Dempsey of Lucca Sports called up to my house one evening with a new bike for me to test out I was happy to see him. As he handed over the Swift Ultravox RS-1 and we looked across towards the Comeragh mountains he happened to remark ‘Mind it now and no going for Strava times coming down Tickincor’. I took a glance at the chain-set, saw a compact 50t…
